INSTRUCTIONS
Please read the following carefully and then complete the Application fully.
A. Eligibility.
1. Assembly Membership: Any reputable person 17 years of age or older, sincerely interested in Magic as an Art, is eligible for Assembly Membership, provided the individual agrees to join an active Assembly. Two Assembly sponsors are required.
2. Junior Assembly Membership: Any reputable person between the ages of 14 and 17 years, sincerely interested in Magic as an Art, and sponsored by two Assembly Members, is eligible for Junior Assembly Membership. That person will remain under the sponsorship of the Members endorsing the application until the individual assumes regular Membership at age 17.
3. Associate Membership: Any reputable person 14 years of age or older, genuinely interested in Magic as an Art and agreeable to a bona fide endeavor to affiliate with an Assembly, is eligible for Associate Membership. No sponsors are required, but applicants are carefully screened by the National Committee on Admissions.
4. Contingency Membership: Any reputable person 14 years of age or older, sincerely interested in Magic as an Art, residing at the same address as another member. Contingency members do not receive the M-U-M magazine.
Note: An applicant may not elect to apply for Contingency Membership unless the M-U-M magazine is currently being sent to a Member in Good Standing in the same household.
5. Young Membership: Any reputable person 7 to 17 years of age, sincerely interested in the Art of Magic, is eligible for Young Membership as:
a. A Member of an S.Y.M. Assembly (sponsored by an S.A.M. Assembly or an S.A.M. member)
b. An at-large Member (who does not belong to any Assembly)
c. A Member of an S.A.M. Assembly (for certain Assemblies)
Following the 17th birthday, a Young Member may become an Associate Member by signing the S.A.M. Oath, or may apply for membership in an S.A.M. Assembly. S.Y.M. Members receive a monthly newsletter written especially for young people, The Magic SYMbol, instead of M-U-M. Applicants for Young Membership are requested to submit a Young Member's application.

B. Definitions.
1. Professional: At least 50% of an individual's livelihood is earned through the practice of Magic.
2. Part-time Professional: Less than 50% of an individual's livelihood is earned through the practice of Magic.
3. Amateur: One who is interest in the Art of Magic and who receives no compensation for the practice of this Art.
4. Assistant: An individual who helps any of the above in their
presentation of the Art of Magic.

Annual dues include $20.00 for a yearly subscription to M-U-M magazine.

$5.00 Reinstatement Fee plus Annual Dues plus postage surcharge* $55.00
Local Assembly Dues are set by each Assembly and are paid directly to the Assembly Secretary.
* Postage Surcharge - Members: All Members receiving M-U-M outside the 50 States & Puerto Rico must include an Annual Postage Surcharge in addition to Annual Dues according to the following schedule: Canada & Mexico-add $5.00; All Other Countries (magazine mailed through ISAL)-add $15.00.
** Postage Surcharge - Young Members: All Young Members receiving The Magic SYMbol outside the USA, Canada or Mexico must include an Annual Postage Surcharge of $10.00.
Sustaining Member:
This category of membership applies to those members who realize that the above charges are not sufficient to attain the aims of the Society, and make a contribution in any amount above the Dues and Initiation Fees Please indicate contribution amount on application.
